The Rally For Trump's Ego

Writer: SteveSteve

While both parties take to social media and blame the other side for the destruction of our "sacred" democracy, let me dive in and give you some of my immediate thoughts:

1) Trump encouraged this rally today strictly for his own ego. He never should have dragged this election fraud narrative all the way until Jan 6th. Even if there was some evidence of fraud in a state or two, virtually the entire system is against him. This includes the entire federal bureaucracy, the courts and the entire corporate media. Unless there was easily provable evidence on a widespread scale, Trump had no chance at over turning the results of the election. Trump wanted to go out knowing half the country was fighting for him to make him feel better about losing to a racist, demented career politician.

2) Government's destruction of our freedom and livelihoods provides an undertone to the protests in 2020 and today. They debated giving $2,000 to every American (which was very popular) and settled on $600. And with the same vote (but a different bill) gave billions of dollars to other countries around the world and exposed the fraud and waste within government. This has an impact on everyone's emotions and the protests provided an outlet for their anger. Happy and content people don't go protesting. There is massive unrest lingering from 2020.

3) This was not a "coup". This was a bunch of hyper partisan Trump supporters with no end goal in mind. Had they stormed the Capitol to confront corrupt, murderous psychopaths who have been looting the country for decades, I'd be a little sympathetic to their cause. Instead their loyalty was to Trump. It's just bizarre.

Also, the lack of security was really strange. However, they weren't terrorizing local communities and small businesses across the country prior to this (unlike BLM). They also weren't armed. They even walked in the capitol within the roped off walkway. They didn't even know what to do when they were inside.

4) This was not Antifa. Sure, there was a few lunatics out there in riot gear acting the fool. But this was a large group of Trump supporters from everything I could tell.

5) Watching a bunch of conservatives fighting with the cops was truly amazing. These are often the same folks who fly a thin-blue-line flag. I honestly enjoyed it in a weird way.

6) Sadly, the cops shot and killed someone today.

7) This is what democracy is all about. Democracy = Mob Rule. The majority enforces their will on the minority. It's a terrible system because there will always be a disenfranchised minority who will fight back when pushed too far. And guess what? Today, we had a disenfranchised minority who felt they needed to fight back. (Sure, it was in a strange and unproductive way)

My thoughts may evolve as I find out more info, or think about this a little more. But, this blog helps me think through these events.

I'll leave you with the best memes I stole today. Enjoy!
